SAINTS WIN AGAIN!!

The saints girls were able to win a thriller against undefeated Southport Sharks today.

The girls are playing some wonderful team football and their attitude to competing has seen the team playing 4 quarters and earning wins across the park.

All the girls were contributing which was very pleasing to see. Our Backs are strong and consistently perform well. Our Middle plays to its strength, playing strong football often dominating talented opponents, not leaving them any space to move.

The last couple of weeks we have been able to win enough ball from middle to create opportunities for our forwards to put on some goals and they have been. While we have often competed well it hasn’t always shown on the scoreboard! Great work Forwards!

Big thanks to Mia from u14s who helped out today and was a big contributor. Thanks to our u11s Kaia and Daisy, who both played well and certainly enjoyed the end result. Daisy with two goals and still the U13s leading goal scorer!

Coach’s Highlights:

Scarlett – 100% effort. Kicking the winning goal in the last minute!

Maia – New to the team and AFL this year but put in 4 big quarters, dominating in defence.

Thanks to Maura Janse Van Rensburg for filling in today as Manager. She said she learnt a lot and that Cathy is not allowed to go away again! 

Thanks to all those who volunteered and supported. It was particularly great to have the help and support from Ben and Jade. They must like us and footy to give up their early Sunday mornings.

I hope you all enjoyed the contest. Super proud of the team and how far they have come on with their hard work. Great bunch of girls that make a great team.
