Darcy Macpherson

MIDFIELDER  –  22  –  174cm  –  78kg

A career-best season saw Darcy Macpherson finish the year third in the SUNS Club Champion award. The fourth year SUN managed to play every single game of the season and established himself as a regular midfielder in 2019. Known for his exceptional defensive pressure, Macpherson brought that skillset into his new midfield role and finished the year as the seventh-most prolific tackler in the AFL. The midfielder also averaged 18 disposals, four marks and six tackles per game in 2019 after being upgraded off the rookie list at the end of the 2018 season.

Josh Orbett

MIDFIELDER  –  24  –  190cm  –  90kg

Coming to the SUNS from Werribee with a reputation for his hard-running and strong marking, it didn’t take long for Josh Corbett to earn his chance at AFL level. Debuting in the QClash in Round 5, the 23-year-old went on to play nine games in his first season in the red and gold. He kicked three goals and averaged four marks per match, but will be looking to improve on those numbers in 2020.

Sally Riley

MIDFIELDER  –  30  –  172cm

Sally Riley came to the SUNS as a free agent ahead of the 2020 AFLW season. The 28-year-old was joint vice-captain of the Adelaide Crows since the side’s inception and played 14 games there over three seasons. She played in Adelaide’s premiership-winning team in 2017. Riley is a 172cm inside midfielder, but can also play off half-back. She has an exceptional field kick in her arsenal and is hard at the footy. Riley brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the SUNS which will be vital in driving the standards for success.

Georgia Breward

MIDFIELDER  –  19  –  163cm

Georgia Breward was taken with pick 91 in the 2019 NAB AFLW Draft. Breward has been in the SUNS Academy since the age of 16 and is based in the Northern Rivers, playing club football for Coolangatta. She injured her ACL playing for NSW/ACT in Round 1 in the 2018 NAB AFLW Under-18 Championships. While undertaking her rehab, she took part in Gold Coast’s Summer Academy and also played a role off-field in the SUNS’ QW Winter Series in 2019. Breward is a small midfielder, but what she lacks in size she makes up for with her courage, skills and decision-making.
